Collie Power Station contracted Alphateam to replace the existing PLCs for three of their overland conveyor belts, totalling 8km in length. Originally controlled by Siemens S5 PLC and Citect SCADA, Alphateam upgraded the control environment to new control platform, installing a Distributed Control System with distributed IO racks to replace the PLCs.
In addition to conveyor variable-speed drive integration (VSD/VVVF) and to ensure ongoing, reliable operation, belt protection was also integrated to the DCS utilising MODBUS protocol.
Alphateam provided full commissioning for all replacement systems, developing HMIs to client needs and running comprehensive Software Simulation Testing to guarantee proposed infrastructure would work on-site as intended.
